QUALITY!

You may wonder why the topic of quality is being included as a tech tip in our Tech Tips.

Do items like overall quality of products, timely delivery, and expert advice mean anything to a consumer? The obvious answer is a resounding YES! From a corporate side it equates to customer service.

Companies, which have taken the initiative to implement and register quality systems, have taken a large step in delivering improved customer service.

The ISO system is a diverse program and can be applied to any type of business. This is where the strength of the ISO quality systems lies. It is an international set of standards that describe the way a company conducts business.

An effective quality system improves a company's customer service in the following ways:

  • Quicker delivery time
  • Increased productivity and efficiencies
  • Reduced scrap and rework
  • Better communications
  • Improved documentation
  • Consistency of operations
A proper system will allow a company to provide a quality service at a reasonable price. In today's times where costs are going up, an effective quality system helps control the costs to the end user and company. An ongoing review of procedures helps to maintain internal efficiencies. Examples of such a process include:

  • Purchasing
  • Training
  • Inspections and testing
  • Corrective and Preventative actions
  • Nonconformance reviews
  • Order reviews
  • System reviews
Key business measurement tools are in place to allow for continuous improvement in providing customer service, quality products and timely delivery.

Our quality system has improved SIF in these areas:

  • Customer satisfaction/Employee satisfaction and involvement
  • Operating efficiency Management information
  • On time deliveries/Waste reduction
  • Reduced rework/Internal structure
  • Vendor quality
Here at SIF Superior Industrial Frictions Ltd., we have been ISO 9002 registered since October 1997. Part of being an ISO registered company involves being audited by an outside quality registration auditor at least once a year. This, along with the internal audits conducted by our quality team have helped our company to be more proactive vs. reactive. There are numerous inspections and checks along all systems to ensure that you the customer receive a quality product every time.
